KPTI

Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Institute

The new england kiwanis family has partnered to help children with traumatic injuries, research, and injury prevention

KPTI is one of the New England’s District Projects, supported by the Kiwanis Foundation of New England (KFNE). This project was developed in the 1970s when the New England Kiwanis District wanted to create a project to help children’s needs. Pediatric trauma was a major issue in the community, and thus Kiwanian Dr. Harold Gerrish approached Tufts Medical Center and the Floating Hospital for Children with the idea. The Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Institute was then created in 1981.

KPTI works to prevent traumatic injuries, which is one of the leading causes of death for children.

Bicycle Rodeos/Safety Days

The Kiwanis Family Safety Day and Bike Rodeo began in 1994. During this day, about 18,000 children participate in educational activities with Kiwanis clubs, police department, fire departments, and other organizations. This program helps provide bike safety information to children, step-by-step instructions for promoting your own safety day, and reduced cost Helmets.
